Solid Wood or Engineered Wood Flooring

Solid Wood Flooring
Hardwood Flooring for years was simply a 3/4 inch thick, solid tongue-and-groove wood such as oak, beech and ash. This flooring was installed by nailing it to a wood sub-floor,sanded, stained and a hard coat finish was applied
In today's market hardwood is more loosely used to describe even soft woods such as pine or bamboo, as a way to distinguish them from man-made flooring or laminates.
Engineered Wood Flooring
Now we touch on man-made wood flooring called laminates or engineered wood flooring. These generally are constructed of three or more layers of wood with a hardwood as the top layer at a thickness of 3/4 inch or less. This type of construction tends to provide for a very stable product. While a full thickness of 3/4 inch wood laminate is usually installed by nailing, the thinner engineered wood flooring is either glued down or installed as a Floating Floor. This type of installation is also great for going over concrete and radiant heating.

Wood Finish
Every wood floor we display and sell is a pre-finished wood product. That means that our wood flooring has been sanded, stained and is protected by a extremely tough finish coat called the wear layer and is already to install. These wear layers are produced by several different hi-tech processes but the end result is a highly durable finish that will protect the beauty of your wood floor for years!
